Just keep walking…

Walking is one of the simplest and most effective forms of exercise, yet many of us don’t get enough of it in our daily lives (me ✋🏻, it’s me). Whether it’s because we’re too busy, we don’t have the time, or we just don’t enjoy it, it can be tough to fit in those extra steps.

But the good news is, it’s easy to add more walking to our daily routine – and the benefits are huge. Walking can help to improve our physical health, boost our mood and increase energy levels. Plus, it’s a great way to get some fresh air and clear our heads.

So how can we add more walking to our daily routine? Here are a few tips:

  1. Make it a habit: Set a goal to walk a certain number of steps each day, and track your progress with a smart watch or a fitness app on your phone. Choose a goal that’s achievable but still challenging, and try to increase it over time.
  2. Find a walking partner: Walking with a friend or loved one can make it more enjoyable and motivating. I love walking with my wife and daughter on cool evenings!
  3. Walk to work: If possible, try walking or biking to work instead of driving. Not only will you get in some extra steps, but you’ll also save time and money on commuting.
  4. Take walking breaks: Instead of sitting at your desk or in front of the TV all day, take regular breaks to walk around the block or up and down the stairs. This will help to break up the day and get your body moving. These are huge for me during the work day to refocus and reenergize!
  5. Get creative: Find ways to incorporate walking into your daily routine that are fun and enjoyable. Go for a hike, take your dog for a walk, or explore a new neighborhood or park on foot.

Remember, the key is to find what works for you and to make walking a regular part of your routine. Start small and build up gradually, and before you know it, you’ll be well on your way to a healthier and more active lifestyle and thriving and shining.
